Jackson Jacoby was only 13 years old, but the memory he leaves behind is far larger than the years he was given.
To many in the community, Jackson was known as a kind young man with a gentle heart, the kind of child who could leave an impression in a single conversation. His smile, his manners, and his quiet sincerity stood out to those who crossed his path.
At the Ranger Community Quarter Store, Jackson will be remembered not only for his presence, but for the character he showed when no one was watching.
One story, shared by those who knew him through the store, says a great deal about the kind of young man he was.
A few years ago, Jackson noticed a toy that had been discarded from the Quarter Store. He asked if he could get it out. He was told yes, as long as he did not make a mess. It was a small moment, but one remembered with warmth — a sweet kid asking respectfully, grateful for something simple.
A couple of months later, that same young man showed the community something even more meaningful.
A money bag containing a full deposit had been lost. The supervisor did not even realize it was missing before the call came in. Jackson Jacoby had found the money — and instead of walking away, he wanted to return it.
That act of honesty has stayed with those who witnessed it. At an age when many children are still learning what character means, Jackson showed it plainly. He did the right thing because it was the right thing to do.
That is the kind of memory people hold onto.
Now, the community is being asked to surround his family with that same love.
